Project costs are typically assessed by calculating cost per square foot. In our current economy, construction costs everywhere continue to soar. While the cost to replace the outdated GMS building has increased since planning began in 2016, we believe the opportunity is essential to vote yes due to the one-time chance for reimbursement through the state.

Unfortunately, no. This is a unique opportunity to rebuild this school, and a product of a lot of hard work to maintain Canton as a world-class place for children to get an education. If we don’t pass this, we lose the opportunity to get 30% of the project costs reimbursed by the state. It’s a lengthy, competitive program with a small % of towns being accepted (this was our 4th attempt over 7 years).
If we don’t pass this now, we lose our place and are kicked back out to the general application pool.
