Vote YES for GMS!

Building a new Galvin Middle School (GMS) is an important component of the Canton Public Schools’ Master Plan. Among the many benefits a new GMS will bring to students and families are larger, brighter classrooms, more collaborative space for students and teachers, and recreational amenities for the entire community.

If approved, the new GMS will be a state-of-the-art facility for grades five through eight, built with a wing for fifth and sixth-graders and a separate wing for seventh and eighth-graders. This new grade alignment will relieve overcrowding at the elementary schools while giving fifth-graders access to more robust academic offerings.

 FAQs

  • The complete financial presentation is linked on the project site, here in a quick link.

  • Unfortunately, no. This is a unique opportunity to rebuild this school, and a product of a lot of hard work to maintain Canton as a world-class place for children to get an education. If we don’t pass this, we lose the opportunity to get 30% of the project costs reimbursed by the state. It’s a lengthy, competitive program with a small % of towns being accepted (this was our 4th attempt over 7 years).

If we don’t pass this now, we lose our place and are kicked back out to the general application pool.
